Editorial Policy

AssetWhisper publishes analysis on investing, risk and market structure. Articles appear under the masthead rather than under an individual byline, so this page sets out what that masthead stands behind: how the work is produced, what it is checked against, what we will not do, and how to get something corrected.

What we publish, and what we do not

We publish explanatory and analytical articles: how an instrument works, what the evidence says about a strategy, how a decision changes an outcome, and what a piece of market news does and does not imply for a portfolio.

We do not publish personalised investment advice, price targets, buy or sell recommendations, or trade signals. Nothing on this site takes into account any individual reader’s finances, objectives or risk tolerance, and the same text is served to every reader. AssetWhisper is not a registered investment adviser and does not manage money for readers.

Where an article names a specific fund, ticker or instrument, it is to illustrate a category or a mechanism. A named fund is an example, never a recommendation.

How an article is produced

  1. Question first. Each article starts from a question a reader is actually trying to answer, not from a keyword. The article’s opening paragraph answers that question directly, in plain language, before any argument is developed.
  2. Primary sources where they exist. Fund facts come from issuer documentation — prospectuses, factsheets, holdings lists. Corporate figures come from company filings and reported results. Academic claims are attributed to the specific published research they come from, including its scope and its date.
  3. Assumptions are stated. Where a figure depends on a model or an assumption, the assumption is written into the text rather than buried. Illustrative examples are labelled as illustrative.
  4. Limits are stated. If evidence is mixed, contested or period-dependent, the article says so. We would rather publish “the research disagrees, and here is why” than manufacture a clean answer.
  5. Review before publication. Every article is checked for factual accuracy, for internal consistency of any arithmetic, and for whether any sentence could reasonably be read as personalised advice.

Sources and evidence

We prefer, in order: primary documents from the issuer or company; peer-reviewed or working-paper research; data from established market data providers; and reporting from established financial press. We avoid citing content whose original source cannot be traced.

Figures that change — expense ratios, assets under management, prices, yields — are presented with the date or period they refer to, and articles tell readers to verify current values with the issuer. We do not present a stale number as a current one.

Independence and conflicts of interest

  • No paid placements in editorial. We do not accept payment, in money or in kind, to feature, rank, review or link to any fund, broker, platform or product. No article on this site has been purchased or influenced by a commercial arrangement. Advertising, described below, is sold and placed separately from editorial and never buys coverage.
  • No sponsored posts or guest placements. We do not publish content supplied by third parties, and we do not sell links.
  • Positions. Where an article discusses a specific instrument, any position held by the publication or the person who wrote it is disclosed in that article. Where nothing is disclosed, no position is held.
  • Advertising. This site displays advertising served by Google AdSense. Those ads are selected automatically by Google, not chosen by us, and no advertiser sees an article before it is published or has any input into what we write, what we conclude, or what we correct. We do not accept direct advertising sold against specific coverage. Advertising revenue is not tied to any individual article’s conclusions, and the cookie policy describes what advertising cookies are set.
  • Affiliate links. We do not currently use them. If we ever introduce them, they will be labelled at the point of the link and in the article’s disclosure, and they will never determine what we cover or how we rate it.

Use of AI tools

We use AI tools in the production process — for research assistance, drafting and editing — in the same way we use a spreadsheet or a search engine. Every published article is reviewed by a person who is responsible for its accuracy before it goes live, and factual claims are checked against the sources described above rather than accepted from a model. We do not publish unreviewed generated text.

Updates and corrections

Articles carry a visible publication date and, where applicable, a last-updated date. We treat these as meaningful: the updated date changes when the substance changes, not when a typo is fixed or a template is redeployed.

Substantive corrections — a wrong figure, a misattributed source, a claim that turns out not to hold — are made in the text and noted at the foot of the article, stating what was wrong and when it was fixed. We do not silently delete errors.

Routine updates — refreshed figures, a new section, improved explanation — update the article and its last-updated date without a correction note.

If you believe something here is wrong, tell us and we will check it against the source. Corrections are welcome from anyone, and we do not require you to explain who you are to report one. Write to hello@assetwhisper.com with the article and the specific claim.

Content that ages

Some articles are tied to a moment — a summit, a monthly market review, a specific price forecast. These remain online as a record rather than being quietly deleted or back-dated, because removing them would misrepresent what we said at the time. Where an article’s subject has been overtaken by events, the article says so.

Who is responsible

AssetWhisper is an independent publication. It is not owned by, funded by, or affiliated with any broker, fund manager, exchange or financial institution. Editorial decisions — what to cover, what to conclude, what to correct — are made solely by the publication.
